As a designer, there is nothing like places like this to make my anger meter go from 0% to BURNING DIVINE RETRIBUTION WRATH in a amazing short time. Incredibly low bids, nothing to do with industry pricing (or talent) WHATSOEVER. Places like this are taking advantage of this economy that has been hell on us creatives and is the reason why so many clients now believe that they can indeed get something for nothing. But let the buyer beware. You get what you pay for. If you are trying to get a corporate identity package for the ridiculous price of 200 bucks and it looks like a 12 year old did it....well, that's on you, cheapass. Next time, spend the money. You'll be glad you did. On the other hand, at least this site is based somewhat in reality...

So tired. Started working again at the CS place I was at over Christmas, yay. Still working with this woman who should clearly know better who apparently took one look at me and decided that she couldn't stand me and decides to do retro HS specials such as "snicker when London talks, stare at her excessively, try to stand near London as often as possible (the better to report back to ass-twitching friend in class what my hair looks like today, what I'm talking about, etc) and in short, make her disapproval of me known" (as if I give a fuck) not yay. Keeping my composure and not letting silly rabbits get the best of me: priceless. As if that wasn't enough, a cool freelance assignment just flopped in my lap. That has a relatively quick turnaround. Apparently their brochure last year was completely hopeless, so they want something "less boring." This from a company that didn't hire me a year ago because they felt that my work "wasn't commercial (conservative) enough." The pros: Kick ass portfolio piece from a well-known company, major coinage. Cons: Seeing how I get up at 6 in the morning and don't come home until seven most days, fitting in the additional 6 hours a day that I need to get this project done in short order is going to result in major sleep deprivation, not to mention make me more insane than I already am. So needless to say, I'm going to be one busy mama over the next couple of weeks because when it rains, it pours. So I'm hoping the trend continues and I continue to get loads of that jangly stuff. Kira, Nagi, instead of sending you guys X-mas stuff, I'm now going to have to send V-day stuff, heh. Since I'm so late I'll make it good! ^^

I've always felt a kinship with Dr Martin Luther King, especially since he and my grandmother both share birthdays. Now they are both gone. I fear I too will be gone before "I had a dream" becomes a reality, because everywhere I go I just see loads of intolerance and hatred in the US, and not just the black/white issues either. Muslim against Jewish, Chinese against Japanese, Mexican vs Puerto Rican...you get my drift. I smile more often at Indian people I see on the street because that might be the only smile from a stranger that they get, considering how so many people swear they are "stealing our jobs." Somewhere in February a bigot will be bitching about "how those horrible Negroes get one whole month out of the year (never mind the fact that there is a Hispanic Heritage Month, an Asian Heritage month, etc)." Take away the race, and the arguments are all the same. People who hate other people, regardless of who it is doing the hating, have more in common with themselves then people who don't feel that way. Not just in the US either. I used to feel indignant for the Irish people getting persecuted in Belfast by the British for....hell, for any reason, pick one. I even got into arguments with people over this topic. Not anymore. Seems the answer for some people is the motto "Do onto others as you had done unto you." Hmmm...let's see here...nope, I can't pretend to understand this. Can you? And let's not get started on the situation going on in Israel right now. Hmm...forgot the point of this post, considering reading the above artcle almost made me ill. Let's just say that "The Dream" seems so near, yet so far away.

Words or phrases I do not want to hear AT ALL in the year 2004: *shock and awe * outsourcing and last but not least, the granddaddy of all words that I do NOT want to hear: Metrosexual God, I'm tired of hearing everytime you turn around, Metrosexual this and Metrosexual that. As if a man who actually takes pride in his appearance and isn't gay is abnormal and therefore deserves its own title. *faints*

Happy New Year, everyone! ^^ Went out New Year's Eve with Ronin and Kupo to see Return Of The King. What can I say? Awesome movie...esepcially the battle scenes. Loved the fact that both sides were getting it. I hate movies where it seemes like the baddies all get killed and all the the good guys get away without a scratch. And oh yeah....Faramir's daddy...can you say FUURRREAKKK? The Shelob sequence was excellent. First time I ever seen a spider scene done right in a movie. Shelob looked almost believable. After the movie let out (1:30) drove home, only to see freaky people out without coats on and all sorts of scanty frapperies, trying desperately to hail cabs. Come on, people. It's Chicago. It's winter. I don't care if it's unseasonably mild. Do NOT wear your summer gear out and not expect to freeze. It's one damn dollar for a coat-check in most clubs. Use it! I even saw one chick in what could only be described as a beaded bikini top, mad as hell because the cabs were full and wouldn't stop. this same chick will probaly report to work on Monday with one hell of a chest cold, blaming everyone except herself for not having common sense.
