Life is sad.

Gran is getting sicker.

Still haven't heard back from company since interview.

Princess is in seriously need of some drugs of the anti-psychotic variety. Help me, someone....before I hurt her.

Ronin's job looks like they are about to do some serious down-sizing.

It's still hot as hell.

Only Kupo, Hellfang, and Danger Kitty are happy.

Well, that interview was..interesting! The lady who interviewed me energy was a bit..scattered, but she was extremely nice. Her father owns the company, but you would never know it, they were so nice and down to earth. We sat for a while just gabbing about models who lie on their head sheets and come in a couple of inches shorter, models who come to fittings about 15 pounds heavier...models who try to take the samples....and then they can't understand why you can't use them and have to call the agency to get a replacement, lol. I mean, anyone can gain a few pounds, that's not what I'm tripping on. But if you're modeling, you know how tall you are usually, and if you falsify your height and the client can't use you, oh fucking well..*rolls eyes*

They were realy nice...they went through my book and gazed at Mutilation Snapshot without even flinching, lol. The Art Director who works there now is a disgrace to the profession. It's like hmmm..I'm bored with this job now, so I'm just going to throw up some shit just to get it done. As a matter of fact, I think the position they are hiring for now is actually going to turn into the AD position, because when I asked her who I would be working under, she just said the Creative Director. When I asked about the Art Director, she just shrugged her very elegant shoulders and said "well, she'll be gone...real soon" with an evil grin. Apparently the AD is also one of those "Prima Drama" types, because they repeately stressed the fact that they wanted someone with "no attitude." I'm hoping I wasn't the one giving off attitude, or being a know-it-all. I really hate interviewing. If you're aggressive, sometimes people take it wrong and have a problem with it. And since I tend to be..well..a bit loquacious at times, I hope I didn't talk myself out of a job. Everything there was perfect. And more importantly, the people who worked for them all seemed to be in a good mood. That's an important thing peopel tend to overlook. If you can, when you go on the tour of the place look at how the people who actually work there (who are NOT in personnel) look. Are they happy? Annoyed looking? Is everyone walking around with a frown on their faces? If everyone is walking about with a sour look on their faces, there's usually a reason for it, and you might not want to work there. ^_^

It was a very very charming place, and I feel that I can do a lot of good there....I basically left it at if I don't hear anything by next Wednesday, to assume that they've hired someone else. I'm trying really hard not to think about it one way or another. If I get it, that would be peachy. But if I don't...I'll be okay too. I still have the logo gig to finish adn more interviews t go on. God, but I'm being lazy!!!

Another day, another dollar (or lack of it). I now have enough money to last me for the rest of my life...if I don't spend another dime. In other words, me broke. ugh. But anyways...have yet another interiew on Wednesday...the same day as my Drs appointment. How the hell I'm going to manage all of this remain sto be seen. -_-. At leat it sounds interesting enough...Girl Friday*slash*Designer. And I'll be doing cool shit, like arranging photo shoots, booking models, arranging stills, etc....Probably entry level, to be sure. But since it doesn't cost a damn thing to check shit out, I'll be taking my ass on down there.

Gran is out of hospital, but still not doing well....she's on oxygen now...*sigh* And the heat...it's almost unbearable. I swear on everything holy that my next apt is going to have central air. I'm tried of burning the hell up every time the temp. goes past 90 degrees. It's supposed to get cooler tomorrow, and I hope to God so...The bastard weathermen said it was supposed to get cooler today, and it's still hot as hell. For amusement, I put a ice cube on my belly, and it took all of 3 minutes to melt. The heat wouldn't be so bad, but add the humidity to it, and you have a recipe for homicide just waiting to happen. They should give weathermen fines each time they get the weather wrong. That'll teach them to get people's hopes up! ^_^

So many people sad...or just tired of drama, people having major complama, ring o rama....The Shortcake is having drama with family members who make shit up so they can look good (btw Shortcake, I wouldn't invite that one to a cat fight, much less to my wedding), Ms Moon is fed up with internet drama, and Nagi is just tired in general. Mag's in a good mood though...learning to drive, playing new games and basically moving forward, which is a good thing. Life's too short to look back in your life wondering what the hell went wrong...best to go forward...with both eyes open.

Ugh.

People need to stop their madness and get on with their lives. The Bitch has spoken...

But anyway, in other news.....

Weird ass week. Developing a logo for a company. (yay!) The Princess is STILL here (ye, even after all the drama) and I helped Mom yank up a bunch of errant weeds in both the front and backyard while she basically pooched about the house and watched. I would have asked her to help, except a.) She'll make up some excuse as to "why she couldn't right now", and b.) seeing her do outdoor work is like me turning into a leopard and taking a huge shit in the middle of Times Square...it's just not going to happen. I hate it...it makes me slack off on my work (thereby leaving more for Mom) because I get pissed off trying to do shit around here and she's basically does nada. Nil. Zilch. Yesterday, she had the audacity to ask me (rather sarcastically, I might add): "So, have you looked at any apts lately?" Like she wanted ME out! I have no idea of WTF her complama is...but she needs to get over herself. Actually, we BOTH need to GTFO, if you think about it, and hopefully in a few months I'll be able to do so. After you've had your own place for a long time, going back home basically SUCKS, no matter how welcome you are.

Gran is sick in hospital yet again...this time because of a urinary tract infection and dehydration, which is nothing to sneeze about, given her age. I see my mom grow more fragile day after day...and I feel so sorry for her. Being a only child and having to deal with all of this is terrible. Gran is restricted to a wheelchair now, (she has refused to walk for so long her leg muscles have atrophied) she's refusing all therapy that would enable her to use her muscles so she can get strong enough to walk, plus she's been diagnosed with Parkinson's to boot. At least I can feel bad for her...and I'm trying to be there for Mom through this, but like a sad heroine in a extremely depressing fairy tale she has withdrawn to her castle and pulled the shades so she could brood in private, and just like the prince in Rapunzel, I have no way of reaching her until she lets down her hair. :( The good news is that Gran is feeling loads better, and they should release her by Monday.

Hopefully, next week will be better.

Hmmm...things do have a way of arranging themselves quite nicely. If this keeps up, I would have to explode with a mean case of the happies! ^_^

Only downer is that Ronin didn't put the DVD screenshot software on his home computer. So no Session 9 screenshots=no Malkavian site layout for now. No art pieces based on some of the screenshots either. Ugh. But maybe it worked for the best...it was already taken out at the video store. I've been doing a lot of research on Danvers, and the things I'm finding out are making my blood boil, I'm so angry about them. >_<. And a big "fuck you" to the Archstone, who wants to tear taht grand old building down and turn it all into low-income housing and supermarkets...'cause they figure that poor folks won't know about the hideous history of the place. Bastards. I wonder if they'll have the decency to take all the patients records out (which are still there, btw, even though the place has been closed for about 18 years, how nice) and distribute them to the families that are still seeking them, but I supposed that will be too much for them. People might actually find out about how a wonderful idea of how an asylum and mental health should work in the country became just another snake pit. Kirkbride must be spinning in his grave now.

We settled down a bit on Saturday and started watching this excellent flick called "Bangkok Dangerous." It was even better than I thought...and a art flick to boot. Damn. It was too much to hope for! Or shall I say, it was enjoyable until it hit a hot spot on the DVD and all of a sudden the "This disk is unreadable" message popped up. We took it out, and the disk was covered with fingerprints and scratches, and no amount of cleaning could make that damn disk readable again. Bastards. And to top it all off, whe we went to Blockbusters to possibly get another copy, that was the only copy that they had, so we had to substitute. Damn. Oh well...at least Clockers is a good movie...

Hey kiddies, it's social blogging time!

First of all, I would like to wish a happy b-day to youse! Seems like you got a lot of good loot! ^_^

More random pretties: Pretty over here, pretty over there, pretty, pretty everywhere!

Here's a blog done in a lovely minimalistic style, in direct defiance of all the fripperies, frapperies and finery that lots of blogs have nowadays. Proves that sometimes, less really is more...
She is back, she is back, she is back, back back!

Random thought of the day: Whoever thought up the idea that tiny (7.5pt or less) type, scrollbars that are only visible in certain browsers, and big ass PNG and bitmaps were attractive things to have on a webpage, please stop your madness. We have been punished enough. Try designing for someone other than yourself next time. Not that I am the Grand Queen Poobutt of Webdesign (far the hell from it!) but I have enough sense to be able to tell when I can't scroll your page, or when I have to open up the source code to decipher the content on your page. You see, when people go to your site, they have the tendency to ignore things like beautiful design and execution of coding and only concentrate on mundane things like "I can't read this shit" and "Why aren't the images coming up" or "why do I have to open up a different browser every time I access your page to simply scroll?" Just a thought.

Went to the doctor again yesterday, but Im not going to talk about that because I want to be HAPPIE! ^_^

Mom and Kupo came back yesterday, refreshed and happy...and I was really glad to see them. Especially kupo. I'm pretty refreshed as well, actually. Rather than focusing on the bad all the time..I'm going to look toward the good. Started a new assault on job searching. I realize now that I've become to comfortable with the way things are, and if I ever want to get to where I want to go, I have to start the car and at least pull it out the driveway. And sometimes, you have to make your own luck. Haven't heard yet from the other company (the swank deal where I get to create from home) and you know what? I'm not waiting for them to either. And after talking to Ms Moon tonight, I think she has a valid point about things being legit. Even though I was referred to them through someone who's known this person for years and has worked for this company for years, I want to make damn sure I'm not making the same mistake I did right out of school, where I worked for this start-up. Follow me while I list this company's (now gone) crimes...

1. People were complaining about checks bouncing. I started cashing my checks at the currency exchange when this started.
2. The CEO used to have these "motivational' speeches mid-day with the sales crew, opening up with YOU ALL SUCKED TODAY! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? We started closing the door to the art dept.
3. We were wondering why the printer was holding up the printing of the direct mail pieces we designed. The mystery was solved when we discovered when we found out that the company hadn't paid its bill.
4. Clients started calling the ART department, telling us about "double billing" and stuff that really wasn't our business, because the Office Manager wasn't answering her phone.
5. A client actually hired a private dick to come in and check out the company.
6. Someone was suing us about every other day for non-completion of goods, which actually WERE completed....but....see number 3 on this list to find out what happened.
7. Payday came. We were told: "Sorry, your checks will come Monday." The checks came Tuesday, postdated. I said fuck this and went to a busy currency exchange, where they ignored the date and cashed it anyway.
8. Salespeople were being hauled out every other day, cursing the CEO, office manager and others because their checks bounced. We started locking the door to the Art Department, in case someone came back with a gun to seriously fuck someone up.
9. Final straw? The fucking Attorney General came in, showed a badge, and started carting out files en mass. The next day, the Art Director quit, Ronin (that's how we met, actually, but stayed friends a long time before starting to date) got fired because- get this- he didn't want to take the Art Director position, and I quit because I knew their shit was whacked at that point and no way in HELL was I going to be stuck there. And yes, I let the school have it for even referring me to those fuck-ups.

We had our revenge, though. We effectively blocked them from recruiting at every art school in Metropolis. And since this happened in 2000 when the market was hot, they couldn't replace us! The bad part was those fuckers STILL owe me 1150.00 for 3 weeks work. It was 1500, but they tried to settle for 350.00. The Labor Board said HELL NO and went after them, because they had over 100 cases filed against this company. They finally had to drop the cases because the company just disappeared.

But all in all, not too bad. Someone who graduated with me worked for a company where they got paid by the month. After being there for about 7 months, she went to work on payday to find the doors bolted and EVERYTHING removed. She was out of about 3000 gil, and the Labor Board couldn't find out where the company went. Anything she left at the office, she lost. Another one of my friends got hired at a job where her "office" was actually a converted bathroom....complete with drain in the middle of the floor. You could even see where the urinal once was! I think your first job is suppposed to suck. You just cluck it out until you get in your 2 years, and then you can start making some real coinage, because then you're considered mid-level. After 3 more years, you can tell EVERYONE to kiss your ass.

Back from yet another visit in Lupine-territory. Okay, maybe it's not that bad, more borderline suburbia-rural than Lupine territory..okay, wait...Lupine territory is anyplace that doesn't have streetlights..hmmm...*confuses herself* Never mind. In case you're wondering why I go out to Suburbia so much considering my last rant, it's because I like a change of pace every now and then. I also know how to bahave (most of the time) when I go out in public, and I'm not going out there getting drunk and pissing in the pristine lawns either. :/ Finishing up Hedwig for final corrections, and doing mundane chores...Kupo is coming home tomorrow, yay! I picked up a Judy Blume book i loved when I was a bit younger than him, "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing." Hope he likes! Also going to read "Clanbook: Nosferatu" later on after I finish, and start notes on my Malkavian site tonight. You would think that SOMEONE would have made an in-dept Malka site by now, but noooooo....They do, however, have Ventrue and Tremere sites popping up quicker than bunnies with gas.

Random thought: In the "it's not easy, being cheesy" dept: Why the HELL do people still feel the need to describe people of different racial groups with racial slurs? Can't you think of a better way to describe people, or would that require too much thinking on your part? As horrible as it is for anyone to do it, it's especially repulsive when said person doing the describing is a member of a minority group themselves. These reptiles will beat the shit out of anyone describing them as anything other than their name or sex, but yet feel comfortable throwing around slurs like confetti. Simply mindboggling. -_-

*sniff* We didn't get to Milwaukee as planned, because Ronin didn't feel like making a drive that far. Maybe later on in the year. Instead, to get me away from the locust feeding frenzy that is part of the Great Metropolis Food Fest, we went way out somewhere deep at the border of suburbia/rural,and just unwinded. The house is almost too quiet without Kupo in it anyway. It happens every year...the first few days he is off with Grandma I'm jumping on furniture, shouting "Ah'm free! Ah'm free!" like a nutcase, and then the last few days I'm missing my Kupo. We didn't even attempt to get slose to the fireworks, because here the fireworks are on the third, there's always about 3 million people who swarm the lakefront, and traffic is a horror. Besides, if you're anywhere near downtown Metropolis you can see them in the sky anyway.

Anyways, we had fun going everywhere looking for those Lilo and Stitch bobbing head thingys. I love Happy Meal toys...They make nifty decorations for your workdesk, and if you get stressed out, you can always play with a toy for a bit until certain "urges" (ie: set the client on fire that can't make up his damn mind and makes horrible changes that you know is ugly, anyone with a brain knows it's ugly, but the client insists on because he wants "to have his input respected") simply go away. I used to get doubles of everything until Kupo told me he'd rather look at mine than play with his own. But anyway, I got all of them except for David. And prolly sometime next week, I'll have him as well.

Went to finally see "Minority Report" on the 4th and a good movie it was. I want one of those computers they have in the movie that you can just touch and get the info you want. The spider scene was good too. But he whole movie made me think about what it would be like to have that little privacy in our lives. We are already giving our privacy away, bit by bit. And having "tailor-made" ads whooshing all about me would piss me the hell off. The thought of having a system where murderers taken off the street before they commit crimes certainly makes a good theory, but at what cost?

Meanwhile, in the cyber-world..... Baby Gurl, among other people have wonderful new layouts! *hugs the Gurl* She is currently loving the Morrowmind, and is gone from us all. I'm glad everything went okay with youse, and that your family made safe passage for the funeral.

Hope everyone had either a good 4th of July, or Canada Day!

It's so fucking hot here...at least 100 degrees for the 3rd day in a row. I hope this summer doesn't turn out like the one in "85, when over 700 people died from the heat.

Took Hellfang back to the doc today, with help from my godbrother. 35 bucks so the doc could look at him, say: "Yep, he don't have foaming at the mouth yet," and fill out oodles of paperwork. Got bored so I decided to go into Downtown afterwards...and completely forgot the "Great Idiot Food Fest" was going on today. Every year, Metropolis has a huge food festival, where all these restaurants set up booths and you can buy a "taste" of their culinary delights. It was nice about 15 years ago. Now it's a asshole-magnet, attracting idiots from all over that come to the big city, eat a lot, drink even more, and basically get up to the type of behavior they wouldn't DARE do in their own sunny backyards. And people wonder why "city people" get attitudes with them. Well, if someone came in your backyard and pissed in it, parked in your parking space and bitched when you had them towed, and basically strolled down the street acting like a complete drunken moron, you wouldn't like them either. -_-. My apologies to the 25% of suburbanites who come here and actually know how to act in public. As for the rest of you idiots...go home. And don't come back until you know how to behave.

Example:

After picking up some books at Borders, I went back to my old neighborhood to talk to some people and catch up on some things. Went to this small grocery store that primarily stocks Spanish food. While in there, some incredibly rude woman came in and started giving them the business about the store being a "bodega."

Rude Bitch: What is a bodega? Do you people speaka da English? This is America! How do you people get away with having a Spanish store? *leans over, shouting* I...would...like...a....COKE?

Now mind you, the actual owner of the store is a rather nice lady of Arabic descent, whose command of English would put most first year college students to shame. She winks at me, crosses her eyes at the "patron" and says in a bad Spanish accent:

"No habla English."

I nearly died laughing. The rude bitch started in with the verbal abuse. The shopkeeper kept insisting she didn't know english. People in line started getting pissed off. Finally this tatooed boy got fed up and basically told Rude Bitch to just fuck off and die and get the hell out of the store and go to Whole Foods or some other Yuppie Food Haven if she had a problem. The Puerto Ricans in line got pissed off at some of the crap she was saying and started talking loudly about what fun it would be to pillage and pluder rude bitches who come in the neighborhood showing disrespect. This Polish lady who owns this huge Rottweiler dog and lives a block away from my old apartment started talking to me, asking how was Kupo and lameting the fact that since gentrification has arrived, the neighborhood has officially gone to hell. Loudly. The bitch finally left, but before she could get to the door, the next customer was up, and the shopkeeper made damn sure the bitch knew without a fact that she spoke English. Perfectly. Without an accent. The look on her face was priceless.

Rude bitch: *in door, all indignant* "I'm going to make a report about this!" (To whom? Her mother?)
Puerto Rican Guy: *running toward the door* Get your stupid ass out of-
Rude Bitch: "Eeeeeee!" *runs*
PRG: *in doorway, cracking up* "Look, her ass is already on the next block...and still running!"

lol....sometimes I love this city.

After a whole week of drama where people said things all at once and nothing at all, calmness reigns once again in this house. I apologized to Princess for not seeming like I cared about Hellfang biting her, and she apologized for being...well...a bit of a bitch. Hellfang got punished for his dastardly crime by getting a nice new "containment facility" where he sleeps. And best of all, Moms and Kupo got to go on their trip! Granted, it was a day late, but they left. Ronin and I drove them to the airport...partly to see them off...partly to make sure they actually got on the plane, lol.

I guess Mom finally losing it and letting both of us have it knocked some sense into both of us. It's something about going home that brings out in the kid in all of us...no matter how old you are, you regress. And we WERE playing the rather juvenile trick of "You love her more!" a little bit much...that, and other crap. After we had time to think about it...we realize that she was right....and for people who claim to be adults, we sure as hell weren't acting like it. I know a lot of my friends who don't even have the option of returning home...if they fall on hard times..they are completely SCREWED, big time. And besides, life is way too short for pettiness and bullshit. At least I have a sister who's a drama queen at times and a Mom who calls me on my bullshit...I know a lot of people who have lost both parents. Or a brother. Or a sister. And no matter what drama went on in their relationships...I know they would do anything to have them back, no matter what.

So anyway..we all got what we wanted. Kupo and Mom went on their yearly trip. The Princess knows Hellfang is under a bit control, so she feels more secure. I got a 35$ vet bill (they have to check Hellfang to make sure he doesn't have rabies even though he's had his shots) instread of a $500 fine, or even worse: a lawsuit. And some quality time to just hang out by myself, or go on short trips with Ronin. Yes, things aren't perfect..I will NEVER forget the things she said to me in anger. But you know what? I'm over it already. Life is too short. And a trip to the Museum of Modern Art they just built in Milwaukee awaits for my eager eyes, so I'll just piss off now. ^_^

BTW...today's Canada Day for out neighbors to the North...so to all my Canadian friends out there...*hugs*

Applause: Lots of things, but being yourself no matter what, good design, anime, good books, videogames, foreign films, relaxing, and water are at the top. Now for those of you who find this list boring, bear in mind I could have said I liked sunrises and walks on the beach.
Tomatoes: Too many to mention, but arrogance, judgemental people and those who just don't give a damn rate high on the list. Have you noticed how some can dish it out, but get pissed off if someone treated them the same way they treat others?
Layout whorage bought to you by: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. I LOVED this movie, so much better than the first one IMO. This is partly a screencap of the beginning of the DVD mixed in with some menacing trees and other refinements. Ah, the miracle and wonders of Photoshop, but anyways, I figured that it would be fitting, since an archive is a graveyard of sorts.
